Exploring the Latest Feature for Bitlocker Drive Encryption in BLR Tools 

Based on feedback from our partners, we continuously enhance BLR Tools with new features. BLR Tools is continuously being improved and expanded upon in response to partner feedback. The new BLR 5.0 release has a number of important feature updates, of which the following is just one.   

Full disk encryption management is a crucial data security service that many MSPs provide to clients in order to assist them minimize risk, given the inherent risk that unencrypted drives present. Legal requirements to encrypt drives may apply to clients in highly regulated businesses or those who gather financial, health, or personally identifying information. The loss of this kind of information could cause serious financial, commercial, and/or reputational harm to the organization

MSPs can successfully sell disk encryption to clients by emphasizing the intrinsic value of the data that they stand to lose as well as the possible expense of data loss, a compliance issue, or theft.

When disks on Mac and Windows devices are encrypted using their native FileVault and BitLocker programs, BLR Tools automatically determines the encryption status of every drive. The "BitLocker Status" and "FileVault Status" fields on each drive on a device will be set to either "Enabled" or "Disabled."

When BitLocker is enabled on Windows devices, a new field labeled "Recovery Key" will appear. Clicking on it will reveal the Bitlocker recovery key.

You can also create tickets, warnings, and notifications using BLR based on the disk encryption state. With this functionality, managed service providers can automatically detect unencrypted disks on recently onboarded devices and open a ticket to fix the problem, leading to billable activity.
